Gilles Madan holds a BSc in Anthropology and an MA in Poetry and Poetics. He translates poetry, literary fiction and essays from Portuguese to English. He is particularly interested in experimental poetry and postcolonial fiction from the Lusophone world.

Earlier this year, he was shortlisted for an English PEN Award for 'Eyes of Water' by Conceição Evaristo. His articles, book reviews and translations have appeared in several literary magazines, including Modern Poetry in Translation.
