Ryan B. Morrison

Ryan B. Morrison is a literary translator, scholar, and educator working between Portuguese, Spanish, and English. His translations have appeared in Latin American Literature Today, Vibrant: Virtual Brazilian Anthropology, Journal of Lusophone Studies, and other publications. He is currently translating Corsária by Marilene Felinto, shortlisted for the 2026 PEN Presents x Brazil showcase, and Enquanto os dentes by Carlos Eduardo Pereira.

Ryan is currently an Afro-Brazilian Studies Postdoctoral Research and Teaching Fellow at the University of Michigan, where his research explores Black literature and social movements in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, and translation across Brazil and the Southern Cone. He holds a PhD in Iberian and Latin American Literatures and Cultures from the University of Texas at Austin, revalidated in Brazil by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul.

Ryan has taught Brazilian literature, and Latin American languages and cultural studies at the University of Michigan, the University of Texas at Austin, Villanova University, and other institutions.
