Rosa Churcher Clarke
Rosa is a British-born, Lisbon-based translator from Portuguese and Spanish into English. She co-translated 'Contemporary Portuguese Theatre: experimentalism, politics and utopia [working title]' (TNDM II/Bicho-do-Mato, 2017) and provided translations for Jonathan Conlin’s 'Mr Five Per Cent: The Many Lives of Calouste Gulbenkian, the World's Richest Man' (Profile Books, 2019). During her PhD in Comparative Studies (2017-2021) she regularly translated excerpts of literary and academic texts for inclusion in English-language publications. Rosa’s other translation work includes film scripts, subtitling and gallery texts, as well as having taught prose translation on the Oxford University Portuguese undergraduate course during 2021. Most recently Rosa has translated poems for 'Sorrisos de Pedra', by British artist Judy Rodrigues and Portuguese poet José Efe (Seda Publicações, 2021), whilst also working on an English edition of photographer Daniel Blaufuks' 'Lisboa Clichê' (in press).
